In 1996, Stockholm's Jonny Johansson co-founded ACNE Studios, a multidisciplinary creative consultancy whose letters stand for "Ambition to Create Novel Expressions". After the release of a limited 100 pairs of raw denim and it's subsequent popularity with friends, family, and clients, he saw potential for expansion into ready-to-wear and accessory lines.
The label's denim origins were re-visted in Spring 2017 with a reworking and relaunching its line under the new name, Acne Studios Blå Konst. Swedish for ‘blue art,’ Blå Konst displays refinement of its previous offerings with a focus on timeless fits, classic washes, and Made In Italy construction.
The brand has reached cult status with signature items like Jensen and Pistol boots, leather jackets, quality denim, in addition to unexpected, oversized proportions and a unique take on Scandinavian design. Acne Studios lives up to its name embodying modern, conceptual minimalism, with influences from photography, art, architecture and contemporary culture.
