Calgary
In June 2000, gravitypope opened a Calgary location. This first expansion was greatly anticipated by numerous footwear fans who had been making the 3-hour trek to shop the Edmonton location.
In fall 2015, gravitypope relocated to a gorgeous building, adding men’s and women’s apparel, accessories, fragrance, body care and jewelry to the mix. The building, designed by noted Calgary Architect, Harold Hanen, reflects his love of Frank Lloyd Wright. Designers Peter and Wendy Turner once again worked magic to create a modern, open concept, multi-level 70's inspired space. The striking 20-foot-high central atrium is strung with a collection of Bocci glass 'bubble' pendants. Below, clusters of brass drums showcase footwear and handbag collections while seamless glass shelving houses body care and fragrances. A pair of stunning silver, space age display cabinets grandly flank the walls in the clothing section, while large brass Moda chandeliers warmly highlight the incomparable shoe gallery. Smoked mirror lines pillars and the ceiling cash area, showcasing a 15-foot marble cash counter. A commissioned colorful art installation by renowned artist Kristi Malakoff embellishes 2 additional pillars, bouncing reflection throughout the space, creating a visual feast for the eyes.
On the lower level, Blackbyrd Myoozik, showcases an excellent, well curated selection of new vinyl, cd’s, and audio equipment.
The visual sensation of this gravitypope shop is one not to be missed!
