Dating back to 1910, it was the Greb Family from Kitchener, Ontario that began the Kodiak journey with the first giant step: a boot designed to help Canadians brave the harsh climates and conditions they faced every day. From forestry to mining to farming, Canadians were on their feet and needed to stay warm and dry with footwear that would last.
As decades passed, Kodiak began contracts with the Canadian Armed Forces, which led to many of the “firsts” that Kodiak has celebrated. In the 1950s they introduced the first fully waterproof leather boot.
Kodiak still produces styles inspired by their original boot collection with the incorporation of modern production and technology, including waterproof leather, slip resistant rubber outsoles and breathable insulation.
